Vintage Hanging

Hello friends

Hope you are all good!

Today I'm celebrating another birthday....
Eeek........I am feeling old!!

So today
I'm going to treat myself to a day of doing what I love to do the most.....
drinking coffee, eating cake and a spot of vintage shopping.....
(Fingers crossed I come home with lots of vintage goodies...... would be so rude not too right?!)

But first I will share this make with you......
Yesterday I had a much needed day in the shed.....
It was so cold but I felt so much better for having some creative time, just for me,,,,

Last weekends junkin turned up this cool vintage photo
Its a great photo of a group
of rather dapper gentleman....
I decided to make a hanging using an old book cover....
(yes I'm the grim reaper of books!)
After stitching around the photo I backed it onto an old text page
I then added beeswax
I distressed some tags using distress inks (vintage photo and brushed corduroy)
I love the cheeky chap with his arms folded.....
he looks like he's up to mischief!
I used an Ideao-logy word plate then coloured it with alcohol ink (copper)
I then added some of my vintage finds

Tag Calender

Hello friends
Hope you are all good!
Brrr........its turned a little chilly......
I think winter is well and truly on its way!
I've been digging out the shabby  shed is so cold!

So I decided I needed some gorgeous, bright, cheerful colours
to brighten up the day
so reached for my Dylusions!
I decided to create a tag calender with a little pocket to add all those important dates!
it also allowed me to  use these cool little frames.....
( I borrowed them from my daughters craft stash,  I'm proud to say that she has inherited my hoarding gene ............and boy she hoards some really cool things!)
shhh.....don't tell her but I think they work perfectly with these cool dylusions skulls!
I created a background for each frame, then stitched some
off cuts into each frame then added a skull
the skulls were given their very own  cool hats!
I made a pocket  for the calender using black tags by ranger then stitched them together
To finish I added a calender and a frame
This was a really fun project to create....
All the products I've used are available from Art from the \Heart here

Movember tag

Hello friends

Hope you are all good
WOW.....can you believe its already November.....

and that means one thing....

a very worthy cause and I just LOVE the moustache!

So with that in mind I was inspired to use this original vintage photograph .....
This rather dapper gentleman is so  rockin a mighty fine moustache!!
I started with a Ranger #10 manilla tag and added some of Wendy Vecchis Embossing paste through a Layering stencil by Tim Holtz (I used Burlap one)
when dry I then used distress inks (vintage photo and walnut stain)
I then added some stitching to the tag and photo and some remnant rub-ons
I distressed the edges of the photo using my Tim holtz scissors
and added a vintage label under the photo.
I then used beeswax all over the tag, which makes it a translucent look and gives a really
cool vintage look
The numbers, lace, pen nib and key are from my own stash of vintage finds....
I then added my favourite Idea-ology, which was coloured using alcohol inks (copper)
I then backed the tag onto some mount board which was covered in vintage newspaper
which I then added more beeswax to.
To finish I added some rusty wire to create a hanging

I hope you like ......
