February - fly away

Hello friends
I hope you are all good!
A very quick post today to share this little notebook
The actually notebook is from a shop here in the UK called Flying Tiger,
(I love this shop, it's a little like ikea but sells lots of stationary and household stuff that you don't really need but you end up buying it because you realize yes you do need it and spend a small fortune in the process !)

I brayered on some gesso then added some crackle paste....

When it had dried I added colour using Paperartsy Infusions, they give a really cool grainy wash of colour that works perfectly into the crackle paste.
I then added the found relatives by Tim Holtz and gave them some of the new Idea-ology wings
(Thanks to mylovely friend zoe for gifting me them!)

To finish,  I added some stitching, the stars and the words....
As always feel free to leave a comment, thanks in advance
Have a great week!

February -Grungy heart

Hello friends...

Welcome to the Little shabby Shed,
Thanks for popping by...

Today the weather has been really mild for February, it is so spring like and makes a lovely change from the cold ….
It has allowed me to get into the shed and to get creative.
As a collector of stuff I always keep packaging from parcels and this is where I started with this make...
As the card was corrugated I started by spritzing off the top layer  with water to expose the
corrugated part
Next I added a light coating of gesso, then peeled it away bit by bit.

When the gesso had dried I started to layer colours of oxides to the card,
drying in between.
I then added a sprinkle of Paperartsy Infusions which give a cool grungy look.
I then added a Prima rusty heart, which was the inspiration for this piece
( this one was kindly gifted to me by my good friend igirlzoe...thank you!)

To finish I added some stitching and some words.....
As always please feel free to leave a comment, I appreciate you passing by!
Have a lovely week

February - A Valentines Dream...

Hello Friends

I hope you are all good, wishing you a Happy Valentine's ….
I can't quite believe that I've actually managed to blog twice in one month, go me...
So a quick post to share this make.
I've created a vintage inspired panel, using lots of collage papers...
My inspiration for this piece were some vintage initial labels that I recently got from a local flea sale, J.H.... I knew I had to have them
I layered the photo booth photo with some Idea-ology ephemera, then added the
J.H name tag to the photo,
around it I added a rusty wired circle to frame it

The background was create on a base board, I then added lots of layers of collage paper (Idea-ology)
I added crackle paint and oxides to get that distressed look.
I then added this large flower from Tim Holtz Assemblage and colored it with distress oxides,
this was all mounted onto some vintage lace.
Sorry its such a quick post...
As always please feel free to leave a comment, I appreciate each one
Have a lovely week
bye for now

February - Heart and Soul

Hello friends

I hope you are all good!
It's finally February... (believe me, I don't wish to wish away the days or months) but with February
now here it's so lovely to see the signs of spring just around the corner....Snowdrops, daffodils, baby lambs, longer days... it feels so much better than those dark January days...

So today I'm sharing this vintage inspired panel....I was inspired by these images from pinterest of so beautiful vintage plastered walls.... I just love that look!

I started with a base board ( Idea-ology) I love to use these as it you can just make out some of the text under the gesso, plus they are very sturdy.
I gesso-ed the board, then added a layer of old text pages, then repeated the gesso.
Next I peeled away some of the text pages to give a layered finish, I applied a small amount of crackle paste and left it to dry completely.
Next I added colour using Oxides....stormy sky was just perfect for this look! I also used some broken china and ground expresso....
I then added some archival ink to give it that rusty worn look....
The photo, words and frame are all from Idea-ology and the vintage lace is from my own stash.
To finish I stitched into the board and hand sewed in some old buttons to give another layer of interest.

I really hope you like it, I think my favourite thing to create is backgrounds!
Please feel free to leave a comment, I really appreciated each one

Have a lovely week!
Hope to be back soon
