Hello friends!

Hope you are all good....
Ive just been away for a week with my family for some much needed R & R and it was bliss!
We walked for miles, talked, laughed/cried, ate lots and made some fabulous memories...
It was just perfect!

While I was away I took lots of inspiration from the coastline, the rocks, the textures, the colours....the list goes on, (My family always tease me for taking up close photographs of rocks, wood, well pretty much anything that inspires me, I always hear them say "Here she goes again!"
I knew I wanted to create a piece that reflected some of the inspiration
so here's what I put together.....
I create lots of layers using Ranger Texture paste, Tim Holtz stencils and stamps
I stamped text using Ranger  black Archival and using Tim's stamp sets - Mixed Media 2, Correspondence and Newsprint and type, the words are from chit chat book (Idea-ology)
I used Sizzix thinlits (Mixed media) around the photo and lots of stitching along with some Remnant rub-ons.
To colour I used lots of Distress crayons, distress paints (black and white) and distress stain(Hickory smoke) distress mica spray (antiqued bronze)
To create the splatters I used a Tim Holtz splatter brush
I really enjoyed creating this....One of those pieces that I had to stop myself from adding more!
As always feel free to leave a comment, I really do appreciate each one!

If you want more inspiration, then don't forget Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 103 starts tomorrow,
(I cannot wait!) tons of inspiration and so much to learn....
to find out more about it click here......its really worth every penny

Have yourselves a really lovely week!
Bye for now

Vintage layers

Hello friends

Hope you are all good!
I think summer has finally arrived here in the UK....not sure for how long,
but I'm going to make the most of it!!

Its been a busy few days here, lots going on, theres just not enough hours in the day!
(I always seem to be constantly chasing my tail!)
Whoohoo....and the summer holidays are nearly here (YIPPEE!) working in a school really does have its perks... we get to have a much needed long summer break
I'm really looking forward to spending some quality time with my family and friends....
( I just love the summer!)

Anyway I wanted to share very quickly
a vintage inspired make that I recently made....
I adore this image from Tim Holtz, Found Relatives (Occasions)
and knew I had to use it, the Idea-ology frame fits around it perfectly
I scratched away at the photo to create a more worn look
I  used sizzix thinlits (wildflowers) cut out in black card.
I created lots of layers using stencils and texture paste, along with lots of stitching
I also used an original bank invoice from 1915 and stamped onto it using a stamp from the correspondence set (Tim Holtz) along with an old key from my stash
I then photographed it in a vintage box file,
(the metal clip holds it all in place)
I hope you like it?
As always feel free to leave a comment, I appreciate each one
I'm off to enjoy the sun.....
Happy Holidays!

Vintage girl...

Hello friends
Hope you are good!
Yuk!! Its been a little soggy here in the UK,
I'm really hoping that the summer sun finds us sooner rather than later!

Today I'm sharing a make, inspired by a vintage shop fitters receipt
I picked up from a local junk store (I've included part of it next to the photo)
I decided to photo copy the original because as much as I love to always use originals, sometimes I have to stop myself as they are just too lovely to tear into...this was one of those don't touch it occasions!
I did however use a very old original envelope (from 1887)
as my base, along with a handwritten note from the same time period.
I used distress and Archival inks to some of the papers to give and extra worn look...
the photograph is also original (a CDV card)
I added some remnant rub-ons, some stitching and a cut out from Tims sizzix die
I also added an old military button, some vintage lace and a feather
I created a frame for the photograph using stitches and some Idea-ology pins
(the case around the 7 playing card is one of my vintage finds)
To finish I attached some fine cotton to the found objects (Idea-ology)
and mounted onto some music paper.

I really hope you like this vintage make, as always feel free to leave a comment,
I really do appreciate each and everyone.

Have a lovely week
bye for now

4th of July

Hello friends...
Pinch punch its the first day of the month!!
Wow July already. I hope you've had a great week
I thought I would join my American friends and create something to celebrate the 4th of July....
Ive always loved this photo from Tim Holtz found relatives pack.....
it was just the perfect image to use.
I started by tearing out a page from an old scrap book album and
adding gesso randomly with my brayer.....
I then added lots and lots of stitching, splats of distress paints and some stamping of stars

On my vintage travels i found a really cool ribbon holder (think its meant for medals) and threaded on some red, white and blue ribbon
To finish I added more layers of paper and the word thankful. along with a vintage ruler.
So to my American friends.... I wish you all a very Happy 4th of July!

As always feel free to leave a comment, I really do appreciate each one
I hope you have a great weekend

hope to be back soon
